Activities around the Togethering (2010)

WHALE WATCH:
There are whale watch companies in Barnstable and Hyannis as well as Provincetown. This can take several hours but is worth the trip to catch a sight of these majestic giants. www.capecodchamber.org.
NANTUCKET:
The Steamship Authority and high speed catamarans will take you to Nantucket from Hyannis Harbor. Be sure to visit the Nantucket Whaling Museum which is within easy walking distance of the dock.
ROUTE 6A:
A leisurely drive from the canal to Orleans along the Old King’s Highway can easily take a day if you stop at the many antique shops and art galleries along the way. Each town, including Barnstable, has its own charm. Each curve brings a view of true Cape cottages and lovely Georgian homes. Every side road takes you some place interesting. Your welcome bag will have a map and list of attractions in a small newspaper “6A All The Way.”
COAST GUARD HERITAGE MUSEUM:
While in Barnstable Village, at 3353 Main Street, make a stop at this great little museum. There is a small jail on the grounds complete with inmate carvings in the walls.
JOHN F. KENNEDY Memorial and JFK Museum:
Both are located in Hyannis. Visit the memorial site in memory of the former President. It’s a nice spot located on the Harbor. Tour the Museum at 397 Main Street.
